The thing is all or almost all of the games were close. The series could easiley be 4-4 or 5-3 Yankees, and the standings would be entirely different.

Even at 0-8, the Yankees are only 2 games behind the Sox. Seems maybe Boston has trouble with the rest of the league while owning the Yanks...

If the Yankees had just won 3 of those games (each games counts 2 in head to head competition) the Yanks would be up 4 games on the Sox. As Connecticoin said several of the games have been close and the season series could be much closer, but the Yankees so far have failed to put the nail in the coffin in some of those games. Gotta give the Sox credit.
