Does the 89 UD Hologram effect the PSA grade?

If the 89 UD Hologram is chipped on a Griffey rookie does it hurt the grade? I think this has been mentioned here before, but I cannot find the thread. Thanks

Yes. That's what keeps alot out of PSA 10 holders

Also, I think there is a wrinkle to be concerned about too with that card on the reverse?

Actually, the answer is no based off of some I have seen on Ebay in PSA 10 holders. Rose City Sports had two 1989 Upper Deck Griffey PSA 10's up for auction a few months back. I was interested in them until I seen the scans of the back with part of the hologram completely missing on both PSA 10's. I do know BGS knocks these cards on surface grade if part of the hologram is missing, but from what I personally witnessed, PSA has allowed some to be graded a PSA 10 with part of the hologram missing.

I always thought the highest grade an 89 UD Griffey jr. can get is a 9 if it has the half hologram.

I know the article they did on the guy who has the PSA 10 set in SMR they had him quoted as saying that hologram condition is what kept him from having completed the set much sooner.
