  • Does PCGS grade so called dollars? That is an HK-487, I think. Link to SCDollar guide.
  • Thanks for the link. I don't know if PCGS grades these things. I am trying to sell it for a friend and thought by getting it slabbed it would, at least, authenticate it .
Any suggestions on who to send it to? I'm totally at a loss here.

  • After looking on the FAQs, I wouldn't think that PCGS would grade it, but it wouldn't hurt to call customer service just to be sure. I know that ANACS will grade it, and I'm pretty sure NGC does SCDollars, too.

ANACS doesn't require membership, if that helps. Keeps submission costs low.image
  • Anyone here have an idea as to the value of this coin? I'm not sure it would be worth the slabbing fees, but I could be wrong.
  • Well, the fact that I can't find one on Ebay may be a good thing, or it could just be the new search system they just put in place.image I didn't find one that sold recently, so I can't get an idea of value on it. I'm sure someone around here knows more about it.
  • I really appreciate all the help. I just looked at ANACS site and they have a 5 coin min. at $19 per coin.
Soooooooooo I dont think I will be submitting this thing. I do know that it was one of 500 struck and a lot of those were melted because of lousy sales. This thing doesn't fit anywhere. It's not US coinage, it's not foreign coinage and it's not really a medal. So do I just call it a so-called dollar?

  • It's listed as a so-called dollar, I'm not sure the requirements for that classification. If there were so few made, that would explain the lack of comps. It could well be worth something. I'd post it on the US coins forum, there are a few guys who are into these coins and can provide more details.

Oh, and I hardly submit to TPGs, but ANACS seems the most cost-effective when I do.
  • I will check with those guys Thanks
