BGS sheetcut card sellers on ebay...

Anyone have an idea of sellers on ebay who are prone to selling trimmed or sheetcut bgs 9.5 cards out there? I just returned one to a seller(about 1/16 or a millimeter longer on both sides) and hope to avoid it again when I am looking to buy an elway or marino bgs 9.5 rookie. Thoughts? I know vintagerookies is one from past experience.

ALWAYS Looking for Chris Sabo cards!
<< <i>No disrespect, but if you're so concerned about "sheet cut" cards, then why insist on BGS graded cards? >>
Because some cards I can't afford (right now) in psa...ie I can get a Marino and Elway bgs 9.5 for less than the cost of a Marino psa 10. I wonder if BGS has openly accepts sheetcut cards, or if they simply miss them?
<< <i>It's universally known in the grading world that BGS 'openly' accepts sheet cut cards (although they won't directly come out and say it). That's the only way to explain why there are so many BGS 9.5 80s O-Pee-Chee cards with perfectly straight edges. That's also why BGS 9.5s of 80s cards are for the most part more affordable than PSA 10s. Ask yourself this- If you had a perfect looking Marino rookie and wanted to get it slabbed to sell it, would you go for a BGS 9.5 ($300 card) or PSA ($700 card)? >>
Ok Lee, you've officially posted on more time than you stated earlier in this thread...now get off the boards...see you on 2010!!

Personally I would just save the money and buy some great looking PSA 9's!

How can you tell if the card is 1 millimeter too long when it's in the slab?

It's fairly obvious when layering raw cards over them in the case - the slabbed card is just too big. And compared it to a psa 10 I have of the same year, and there is way too much border on it. Sad. That's why I buy PSA when possible, but those BGS prices are hard to ignore, although usually not worth the gamble it seems.
Here's a PSA 9 that ended with a high bid of $72.00.
And a BGS 9.5 that ended with a high bid of $233.50.
And finally, a PSA 10 that ended with a high bid of $1,430.00.

<< <i>You could buy 10 PSA 9's of that card, re sub them all, make one 10 and double your money.
Steve >>
Would that actually work? I haven't had a psa 9 nice enough for that, but I haven't purchased many, either. I did crack some bgs 9's back in the day into psa 10's, but I think BGS was better than (~2001 or 2002).

I sold these three quite a few years ago! Now looking at these O-Pee-Chee scans some years later, I'm now almost certain all three were sheet cut examples.
Would I sell them today? I wouldn't even give them away for free, via a CU contest!

Take a look at a 1980 OPC Pete Rose graded by PSA, you will see the correct "OPC saw-like edges" but not on the Beckett example)

<< <i>Because of sheet cutting, even non-sheet cut BGS 9.5 rookies of Elway and Marino will always sell for significantly less than a PSA 10. If you are looking at long term value, then buying a BGS 9.5 is a waste of money, if not, then what makes the difference? Its like saying I want a 2009 Corvette, but go ahead and put a 1980 Ford Pinto motor in it...it'll still get the chicks until you have to drive it somewhere >>
I agree, because the overall perception is that most 9.5's are sheet cut-even if they aren't.

I'm glad you didn't put a 1980 Pinto gas tank in your 2009 Corvette. One good rear-end accident, you, your chick and your fake Corvette will go up in flames.
