2009 Upper Deck 20th Anniversary Retrospective Set

My son and I thinking about building this 2500 card set that Upper Deck is putting out this year. My son was born in 1989, and he figures that the set is a history of his life in sports, politics, pop culture, technology, and world events (I think those are the five main categories).
We have a few hundred of them at this point, and there are some large quantity lots on eBay that occassionally go for about a quarter per card or less. However, something annoying about the set is that for each unique event in the set, there are 5 cards, all with the same picture but with different text on the front and back about that event. For instance, cards 1-5 are all about the 1989 UD Griffey rookie and all have the same picture of the card, but each card has different text about it. Hypothetically, you could build a 500 card set with one card for each event, but that wouldn't really be "complete" I suppose.
Is anyone working on this set or any subset of this set, or know of anyone else that is? If so, do they know how they are approaching the project?

My guess is if you want a set to keep, wait a couple months and you will see the prices of these come down a little. There may be fewer lots of them, but they will be for a good deal less.

Keep in mind what EAsports said. Just because you can find a lot of cards for under a quarter doesn't mean they all are going to be like that. I've found that 90% of the money spent on a set is for only 10% of the cards (stars, high demand cards, etc).
Good luck though, that sounds like quite a project.
