Anyone have a 1977 Football wax tray? Need help

What is the UPC # on back?

Oval on front green or brown?

I bought one and have another coming and suspect it's made. I feel dumb for not researching enough before hand.

Noticed one end has the crimped edge/flap looks ironed down. It's pushed down on the tray is a semi oval pattern. UPC is same as '79 Baseball and '78 Superman.

Latest one I bought

This site shows a .15 price tag. I was duped.

1978 marked the year Topps raised their price for wax packs from 15c to 20c. Not sure if they made any football trays in 1977 with 20c price per pack. I know they never did for baseball at least. in 1979, Topps used a green oval for baseball, except for those that were sold in K-Mart...for some reason those ovals were brown and they are very tough to find..

Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
  • Thanks. Yeah packs gotta be fake. Paypal is refunding.

You know if the '78 baseball UPC is the same as '79?

My GAI '78 has the same as my 7 '79 ones.

I had looked at that tray. $100 seemed like a really good price and I was surprised no one had grabbed it. I never put together that the price on the wrapper was different than mine.

    Here's mine.

At least you'll get your money back. I just found out I was duped on a 1980 hockey tray. HA! They were never even made in the first place!

The UPCs on my '78 and '79 do not match. However, the '78 has two different UPCs: one on the wrapper and one on the cardboard. Hope that doesn't mean anything.

This really sucks. Trays were supposed to be the only old packs to be completely legit. Now even they are subject to resealing. Makes me afraid to think about my others now.

That's a lot of trouble for $100. Not only would you have to reseal the wax packs, but you'd have to build the wax tray.
  • info removed as it may aid scammers?

Asked for a pic of his 'full box' these were pulled from for this auction. He said how can I get a pic of 'full box' if I sold you two of the packs. lol
