Question regarding the submission of weak edge Sacs.

If I send in a bulk submission and some turn out to be weak edges will they be attributed or must I send them via variety attribution or error service?

Thanks.

Weak Edge Lettering coins are considered "Errors" and not "Varieties". As such, they will not automatically attribute that "Error" and they would have to be resubmitted as an Error Submission.

    Been there, done that.

This is one thing that kinda pisses me off about the Complete Presidential Dollar Variety Set. All the Varieties are actually Error Coins yet they do not get E numbers. They do get a Mint Error Designation though but are still allowed in the registry.

What other registry allows Error Coins?

Note that the Sintered Planchet has an E affixed to the coin number and is attributed as an Error. Also note that the Jefferson is attributed as a Mint Error yet there is no E affixed to the coin number. Instead it has its own coin number.

I'd like to see these "errors" taken out of the complete variety sets and put into a Complete Errors Set. That way folks would know what submission level to submit them under.

So these varieties must be sent as errors so they may be attributed? I was thinking of going with the modern tier and adding variety attribution.? I assume they will not attribute then?

Maybe I should call CS soon. This doesn't make sense.

An eMail from Teresa Roushar, Problem Resolutions Coordinator in regard to a 12 coin submission for Weak Edge Lettering, Date 9/16/2008:

    "Hello,

I apologize, I did not see the abbreviation for Weak Edge Lettering on your submission form. All of your coins on this invoice will need to be processed under Mint Error service if you wish to have the “weak edge lettering” designation on your holder.

    Thank you,
    Teresa Roushar"

and in regard to the question: "Another question, if these are not slabbed as Mint Error’s, why are they charged as Mint errors instead of Variety Attribution?"

    "Hello,

These coins are Mint Errors and do go through the Mint Error process, however we have created a coin number for these coins (unlike other mint errors) so that they may be uploaded into a customer’s Set Registry.

    Thank you,
    Teresa Roushar"
