how to return item on ebay "officially"

So I wasn't happy with a card I bought and am returning - is there a way to due this officially through ebay without logging a complaint (seller is agreeable, but I want protection just in case he wants to pocket the dough)?
Looking for rare Randy Moss rookies and autos, as well as '97 PMG Red Football cards for my set.

PP will ask you to send the card back to the seller. When
your USPS Delivery Confirmation number shows the item
was delivered, PP will credit your account.

I bet he's worried about you also, what a great world we live in.

I would NOT trust any EBAY seller that I did not know to return
an item without having first filed a SNAD claim.
You would still have a claim, but it could be more complicated.
It's really best to wait for PP to advise you to return the item.

SigCon is required for items over $249.99.
DelCon works for lower priced items.
If the seller agrees to"take back" the item and he has decent feedback, I wouldn't worry!

If it is under 50.00 I'd just return it without filing the SNAD.
If it is a substantial amount I might email the seller first and advise him
that for the protection of the both of us I am filing a SNAD.
I would do my best to keep it from being adversarial.

Simply check his feedback and return the card.
It is the civilized way to handle a simple problem.
When a SNAD is filed on a good seller perfectly willing to help an unsatisfied buyer it's really an ahole move.
If there's any issue with the return you can always file the SNAD, but then the seller deserves to have one filed.
You'll get a refund either way.
thanks for the input - Pete
The important thing is to keep it professional and not adversarial.
