Merc guys - check out the new entry in the Registry

It appears that I now have competition for my No Bands set. Ken (Fairlaneman) has added another set to the Registry. Welcome aboard, even if we are battling again. FYI, I have a 1935 MS66 available as I just upgraded to a 67. It is a nice white coin.

I'm pleased to see Ken add this set because now you two can beat each other up! Drive those prices for the non-FB dimes to the sky!! Impoverish each other and allow the rest of us poor collectors to add to our sets without facing competition from you two!

Actually, it's interesting that both Ken's set and Rich's set (the R.S. Gore collection) have been added. Plus I see Pat (Ptvetter) is headed south once again. Given that I already live in the South, I hope no one wants to pass me and push me further south because if I get shoved too much further south, I'll be treading water.

  • DeepCoin,
I think you've been lucky up 'til now in that no one else has taken up your approach. I mentioned once before that this could be a neat and inexspensive way to have some dynomite-lookin' "Winged Liberty Heads"! image
Congrats Ken, on your second set. If I didn't have so many irons in the fire, I'd be tempted to join the two of you. Perhaps we could get PCGS to list two separate sets - w/ & w/o bands. Points could still be deducted for no bands in the "Full Band" sets, but full band coins wouldn't add any points in the "No Bands" sets. Heck, we're up to over 40 sets now. Let's get us a second set for them gem "Winged Liberty Heads"! It can only help to bring in new collectors! I know that it might convince me to start another set! LOL! image
Mark, I've been treadin' water and sinkin' since my set first registered at #9(down to #12, now)! Al is bearin' down on me with some awsome additions. I hope that some additions that are in the mail can lift my set up to near your's! image

    Regards,

    Don

    Gem Winged Liberty Heads and
    FULL Heads RULE!
  • Mark, my small set is pretty far south, so I may give you some competition for the lower spots. I was at something like 39 out of 40 until they added my latest, 1 coin update, which pushed me up to somewhere around 37. It's kind of fun being in the South. Gives me something to strive for...image

    3. Non FB only

Well, if PCGS does add a non-FB set, would FB coins be penalized 2 points???

Well You Found It. Actually I needed a Place to put the Neatly Toned 39D I bought so I figured What The Heck here goes with a "No Bands Set". As stated on the Set Description progress will be Slower that a 3 Toed Slooth. Cool,Cheap,Neatly Toned Coins get Priority in this One.
Aaron: Put your idea into PCGS. Sounds Cool and would Involve many more Collectors that Do Not want to Plunk Down $150 to $212,000+ for a FB example of a Mercury Dime. I am Sure DeepCoin is finding out just how hard it is to come up with some of the NB coins. Pop's are very Low on some of the Dimes. Some of them Much Lower than the FB coins.
Where's Pat ?? Can't wait to see his reaction to Falling another spot on a WeekEnd. Should be a Entertaining post to read.image
2labmom: Is this are First Female?? If so Its About Time.image In My case never take Me Seriously. To Me the Registries are just a Place to Show the Coins,BS with everyone ,Relax, and have Some Fun. THe Big Board is for the SERIOUS STUFF.
Mark: Already IMPOVERISHED. Guess I am a Gloutin (SP?) for Poverishment. Is that a Word ??

            1. Fairlaneman, thanks for the welcome. image This board has made me feel very welcome. Everybody has been super nice (so far image). I am new to the registry sets, but not to collecting. I have several slabbed coins, but not all are PCGS, so I can't enter them all in my registry sets here, bummer. image And over where I can enter other companies slabs, they don't yet have a set for 3CN (my biggest set yet).

I never take anybody too seriously because I feel we are all here to laugh, poke at each other, encourage each other and over all have a good time. image Now, all you guys keep that in mind and don't take me too seriously, either. image

I look forward to having a blast with all you great Merc guys! image
