Gold Buffalo question

Hi guys! I just jumped in the coin collecting and my dad from Italy asked me to buy some Buffalos (he has a big collection started 30 years ago, mainly european coins).

I am pretty positive that no 2009 Gold Buffalos have been issue. Is this true?
The Buffalo started in 2006, right? Did the Mint issued the fractional every year?
What about the Proof?
