Muhammad Ali signing, bet this will be big $$$

I just stumbled across this, I'll wait until tomorrow to call, but I bet it is huge $$$$. I would think his fee would easily surpass the Sandy Koufax $750 fee or so that Steiner charges. I have an original painting of Ali that I would love to have signed. I've had it for years. I'll see what the fee is before I get too excited and will verify with his foundation/museum that this is a legit opportunity before I send them my money. Might be time to look for a 1964 Heinz Veb Egg Cassius Clay card as well for my signed rookie card collection.

It's not often that I get excited about a potential signing, but this one rocks.

Is that what Koufax charges or is that what Steiner charges? I just bought a Koufax signed 8x10 from someone who I feel is legit (could be wrong, but dont think so). I paid $50 for it, so if he charges $750 then I got a great bargain.

That's gotta be a Steiner thing. They also charged around $1K for a Mark McGwire private signing a few years agoimage

You can buy legitimate Ali signatures for half that. But if you have a rare piece you want signed, I can understand paying $850 for his autograph

I am not an autograph collector so I just can not understand why someone would spend so much money for another man's 'graph.

Isn't his auto really sloppy now due to his parkinsons?

My father in 1966 met Ali just after he changed his name.

He asked for an auto and Ali signed it Muhammad Ali.

My father fave him a look and said my son is 10 yrs old and knows you as Clay.

In parenthesis he wrote (Cassius Clay)

My mother threw out the box that this auto and a few others was in!

I've got two clean autos of Muhammed from 1970s that my mother got as a flight attendant with him on board. Based upon what he signed they are easy to note as pre-parkinson's disease. What do you think they retail for? They are clean and legible
    Enjoy your collection!

It's not that his signature has a great value attached to it, as it doesn't, it's just if you have a particular item that you need signed, like my painting, then there's not a whole lot of options. The standard run of the mill photos, cuts, etc, can all be found cheaper (and most SIGNIFICANTLY CHEAPER) already signed. But this is a reasonable deal for those of us that need him on a particular item such as artwork or to finish a multi-signed piece or something.

I think the only person I would pay $850 for an autograph would be Mike King Kelly and Babe Ruth....if they were still alive

About 12/13 years ago Ali was signing auto's at the Gloria Rothstein show in White Plains NY. The price's were high for the time maybe $150-200 or so I dont remember exactly. What I do remember was being on a line that took an eternity to move. Even than the effects of his Parkinson's disease was taking its toll on him and he struggled to get through the show. I will say one thing that I found awesome about him was that every kid standing there with their Father was entertained and greeted by Ali who playfully teased and shadow boxed with all who approached his table. It as I said made the wait unbelievably long but I dont think any one of us was upset with him because his humanity was evident to all. Sadly I dont think Ali will be able to interact with his fans that way in 2009.

WOW! Just got email from the promoter. The basic fee is $850.00. The fee for artwork is $1300.00 EACH (if I buy 2!!!!)

No paintings for me now. I can't in good conscious spend that much. Now I'm looking for a 1964 Heinz Veb Egg Cassius Clay if anyone has one.
