What would you recommend?

I'm looking for unopened boxes/packs in the near future, with a price of about $300 per item, give or take a few.

For Baseball, I'm probably going w/ the 1993 Topps Finest Box, and for Basketball, I'm probably going with the 1986 Fleer Pack. Both seem to me as good value with potential of getting at least a few decent cards in each.

Now, for Football and Hockey, would anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks.

  • NHL 85/86 OPC pack -- Lemieux RC
    NFL 84 pack-- Marino RC

I guess you can see my Pittsburgh bias. But this is what I would buy, so if they grade well you know you at least have 1 bidder.

Both good choices. Football and hockey products don't give you nearly the same big hit potential for your money so you might want to just use that $600 to buy PSA 9 Topps RCs of Elway, Marino, Montana, Lemieux and PSA 8 Gretzky. That way if you pull bunk out of the Finest and 86 Fleer you have something to show for your money.
  • Well if you want hockey RCs, avoid Topps, and get the OPC version. Dont buy ungraded or bgs for hopes of crossover, stick strictly with steve, for un opened material!
  • '84 Topps Football has 8 HOF Rookie cards but getting 10's are extremely hard to get because of centering and tilting. Even if you pull PSA 9's the only RC's that are worth much is Elway ($79.19) and Marino ($70.93)
