Wrinkles on Vintage cards...

I was wondering if tiny surface wrinkles on cards were factory defects or something else.
More specifically vintage MINT cards were the only flaw is a wrinkle.
It seems to me it would be hard to "wrinkle" a card by handling it. I think it would just crease & show other signs of wear.
Any ideas?

They generally come out the pack that way.

"MINT" does not mean "pack fresh."

"MINT" means how the card would look if it was made/preserved without defects.

    A micro-wrinkle turns 10s into 5s.

I know. Personally I love PSA 5's that look MINT or better despite the wrinkle.
It makes the card extremely affordable!

I personally love me a good wrinkle. They can make for the best "value" in vintage cards. PSA 4s and 5s that look like they are NMMT or better are hard to beat on a budget. image

I have a SGC 50 (4) 1954 Kaline that has a surface wrinkle on it. Only way to see it is to tilt the card in direct light. There is a mark on the surface too, but it looks like a 6 or 7 to me, corners are nice on it.

The scan doesn't show the corners but all are sharp. Th submitter must have missed a surface wrinkle on both cards. I personally would take a full set of PSA 5's with wrinkles that can't be seen unless turned in the right light. I have examined both these cards and cannot find the flaws, but they must be there because PSA said so. Great looking cards on a budget.
