Wrinkles on Vintage cards...

I was wondering if tiny surface wrinkles on cards were factory defects or something else.
More specifically vintage MINT cards were the only flaw is a wrinkle.
It seems to me it would be hard to "wrinkle" a card by handling it. I think it would just crease & show other signs of wear.
Any ideas?

They generally come out the pack that way.
"MINT" does not mean "pack fresh."
"MINT" means how the card would look if it was made/preserved without defects.
A micro-wrinkle turns 10s into 5s.
It makes the card extremely affordable!

<< <i>I personally love me a good wrinkle. They can make for the best "value" in vintage cards. PSA 4s and 5s that look like they are NMMT or better are hard to beat on a budget.
Must... resist.. urge... to post... same scans... for umpteenth time. UGH!
<< <i>I know. Personally I love PSA 5's that look MINT or better despite the wrinkle.

I have a SGC 50 (4) 1954 Kaline that has a surface wrinkle on it. Only way to see it is to tilt the card in direct light. There is a mark on the surface too, but it looks like a 6 or 7 to me, corners are nice on it.
