Goalie Shaped Sieve Needed to Replace Osgood

Dear Fellow Old Wings Fans--

On Tuesday I implored you to send some much needed supplies overnight to PGH to help our boys including "Just for Men" (Lidstrom), Dark Shades (Bab), Vagisil (Zetterberg). Unfortunately, none of you stepped up.

All you need to do now since you dropped the puck on my first request is to drive your crappy Ford Focus down to the stadium to deliver these items. If you could include a "Goalie Shaped Sieve" to stick in front of the net in replace of Chris Osgood that would be great.

Note: To D-Fans----a sieve is a plastic strainer that drains out noodles--in your case Ramen--and is not flattering when referred to a hockey goalie. Out!

Oh, I'm sorry. I assumed this was another stupid thread looking for a Fantasy Baseball Owner.

Instead it was just a stupid thread that has nothing to do with Sports Cards or Memorabilia.

This song now has new meaning for me, and I'd like to dedicate it to mintacular. It's by Run DMC

    "You Talk Too Much"

    You talk too much...
    You talk too much...
    You talk too much...
    You talk too much...

Hey! You over there, I know about your kind
You're like the Independent Network News on Channel 9
Everywhere that you go, no matter where you at
I said you talk about this, and you talk about that
When the cat took your tongue, I say you took it right back
Your mouth is so big, one bite would kill a Big Mac

You talk too much You never shut up
I said you talk too much Homeboy you never shut up

You talk about people, you don't even know
And you talk about places, you NEVER go
You talk about your girl, from head to toe
I said your mouth's moving fast, and your brain's moving slow

You talk too much You never shut up!!
I said you talk too much Homeboy you never shut up

You're the instigator, the orator of the town
You're the worst when you converse, just a big mouth clown
You talk when you're awake, I heard you talk when you sleep
Has anyone ever told you, that talk is cheap

You talk too much You never shut, up!!
I said you talk too much Homeboy you never SHUT UP!!!

Talking is the one thing, that you can do best
You told the cavity creeps, to watch out for Crest
You never have the story, right and exact
And then you always try to bore me, with your yakkity yak

You talk too much And then you never shut up
I said you talk too much Homeboy you never SHUT UP!!!

Everyday you are out fighting someone in the street
And you're always fighting someone you know ya can't beat
Then you wonder how, you got in this mess
Just think of what you said, then take a guess

You talk too much You never shut up!
I said you talk too much Homeboy you never SHUT UP!!!

You're always spreading rumors, whether bad or good
You're the damn Walter Cronkite of the neighborhood
The Barbara Walters, and the Howard Cosell
You always come around, with a story to tell

You talk too much And then you never shut up
I said you talk too much Homeboy you never SHUT UP!!!

Said it's everybody's business that you love to mind
And talkin to you, is like dropping a dime
You're spreading the word, like it is your job
You should be a stool pigeon, who works for the mob

You talk too much And you never shut up
I said you talk too much Homeboy you never shut up!

A big blabbermouth, that's what you are
If you were a talk show host, you'd be a star
I said your mouth is big, size extra large
And when you open it, it's like my garage

You talk too much And then you never shut up
I said you talk too much Homeboy you never shut up

You always like to gossip, just like a girl
You talk so damn much, it's outta this world
When you're reincarnated, in your second life
You won't be a man, you'll be a nagging wife

You talk too much Then you never shut up
He said you talk too much Homeboy you never SHUT UP!!!

    SHUT UP!!!
    SHUT UP!!!

Twenty-five hours, eight days a week
Thirteen months outta year, is when you speak
I'm tired of listening to the garbage you talk
Why don't you find a short pier, and take a long walk

You talk too much Then you never shut up!
I said you talk too much Homeboy you never SHUT UP!!!
You talk too much You could be, out of breath
You talk too much Man you naggin me to death
You talk too much Tired of hearing you speak
You talk too much Eight days a week
You talk too much Then you never shut up
I said you talk too much Why don't you ever SHUT UP!!!
You talk too much Then you never shut up!
I said you talk too much Homeboy you never SHUT UP!!!

Osgood's been in the league for almost as long as Crosby's been alive. I think we'd have to wait 17 years for the realistic stats on that one.

"Congratulations-- the Pittsburgh Penguins have tied a series against a team that's missing the second best forward in the league."

so you have Datsyuk as the second best player in the league behind Ovechkin I'm assuming? Dunno about that..like Zetterberg he's a great 2 way player but I'd still take Crosby and Malkin over both of them simply by what they are accomplishing at such a young age, and possibly Getzlaf over Datsyuk too...skilled size is hard to come by in the NHL and you saw how Getzlaf shut Datsyuk down and beat the crap out him on top of it in the second round. Iginla had a down year too but it's hard to take him out of the top 5 even at his age...he's still the best power forward in the game. If you want to say Datsyuk is the 2nd best Center in the game you can make a claim there but I'd still take Crosby and/or Malkin over him and I"m not even a Pens fan...Datsyuk is a month away from being 31 years old and didn't become an elite player until he was 26 or 27, then look at Crosby and Malkin...Malkin is 22 and Crosby is 21 and already they are both in their second finals and both outscoring Datsyuk. Defense comes with age and experience, Datsyuk didn't come into the league as even a "good" defender, most people didn't think he'd last more than a few years in the NHL...he came in as soft as Patrick Kane which is why the Wings had him stay in Russia until he was 24. Crosby is already a very good defender and should be at Datsyuk's level within the next 2 years defensively. Malkin...well, he plays D when he wants to...sorta like Hossa. That's what makes Jonathan Toews so great...you don't see young forwards right out of college or juniors playing top tier D right away.

This isn't about whether Datsyuk is the second best player in the league. Your points may all be valid. However, the fact is that the Wings are much better off with a healthy Datsyuk in the lineup, and one is left to wonder if the series would be tied right now if he were healthy. That being said, I for one will not use it as an excuse if the Wings should lose, which I still don't think they will.

I'm still trying to figure out how Osgood's outstanding play in game 4 makes him a sieve. The combined talents of Ken Dryden, Terry Sawchuk, Martin Brodeur and Patrick Roy would have allowed no fewer than 3 goals last night. There wasn't a bad goal in the bunch.

Dunno if I'd peg Datsyuk as the #2 forward in the league, but he's no worse than #4 or #5. 97 points and the top defensive forward in the league - while playing < 20 minutes a game.

Getzlaf shut Datsyuk down because he was injured.

Iginla is a mediocre, at best, defensive player and his production dropped by 15 goals this year. He'll be 32 next year as a power forward. Expect that production to continue to drop.

Toews will be great but he ain't there yet.

My top 5 would be Ovechkin, Malkin, Crosby, Datsyuk & Zetterberg.

In other words, I am definitely hoping that Datsyuk returns Saturday night. He was missed on Thursday. First time his absence was real obvious.

I agree with your Top 5 for the most part although I'd probably take Getzlaf on certain teams that lack size.

Getzlaf and Perry were the ones who injured Datsyuk by beating the crap out of him the entire series...hence the value of skilled size

Iginla last season posted 50G, 48A for 98 Points and was a +27..you don't post a +27 if you can't play D...it's not like he was on a great line to coat-tail to a +27. He was centered by friggin Craig Conroy most of this year...a 3rd line checker...don't forget the team aspect...it's a helluva lot easier to post 97 points when you're on a line with Zetterberg, Holmstrom or Franzen, Lidstrom and Rafalski and when you're on a team that consistently gets away with cheating on the dot and running illegal picks and interference on most set plays.

Toews is already great, it's just a matter of whether he will become an elite player.

We should also note that Dasyuk finished the season with 97 pts (compared to Crosby's 103), and only played four more games than 'The Next One', and finished +33 (compared to Sid's +3). Again-- not bad numbers for a guy who can't hold Crosby's jockstrap.

Is Datsyuk better than Crosby? Probably not. But one thing I do know-- if his name was 'Paul Dawson' instead of 'Pavel Datsyuk', and he hailed from Moose Nuts, Manitoba instead of Russia, he would likely at least appear in the discussion.

Edited to add: Putting my personal feelings for the Winged Wheel aside, I find myself salivating at the prospect that a team spearheaded by nine Swedes and an undersized Russian might very well hoist the Cup for a second year in a row.

dasyuk has to be in the discussion that he's better, he lifts the team. crosby has become chippy as the series has gone on starting with putting his stick in detroits victory lineup after the game 1 win. i think he has 1 point in the series. dasyuk had 2 and was a +2 by the second period of his first game. crosby is very very good but he needs to mature and learn to win. +3 for a season is not the best player in the league, maybe the most fun to watch, of course that other guy in washington may have something to say about that as well.

I'm using the Canadian media's coverage of the Wings (and of European players in general) as a proxy for the Canadian attitude towards foreign born players. If this is wrong, then I'm wrong. But there can be no doubt that at least the Canadian media shows a distinct bias against foreign born players, which is why I love watching a team that features a lot of European talent win the Cup.

Canada is a great country, but your hockey coverage is an embarrassment to your national character. Don Cherry-- the man voted the SEVENTH MOST IMPORTANT CANADIAN OF ALL TIME BY THE CANADIAN PEOPLE-- still thinks its cute to intentionally mispronounce the names of European players? I mean, c'mon-- that's ridiculous. If an American announcer, say Joe Buck of someone of similar statue, intentionally mispronounced the names of Latin players during the World Series he'd be run out of a job in five minute. Hell, they fired Steve Lyons for the 'wallet joke', and that wasn't fractionally as offensive as the crap we hear every night on Coach's Corner.

Detroit absolutely outclassed the inexperienced Pens last night. It made you really appreciate true team work and great coaching.

BTW the ever soft Crosby is clearly not the best player in the NHL. I believe Ovechkin and Malkin are better players.

Oh, maybe it's there and I never noticed. All my friends have such mixed backgrounds from every country you can imagine. And we all do our best to run everyone elses background into the ground, lol. But none of us care what anyone says... Not sure why I was worried about what you said??? image

One thing going on right now is the fact that we bring hundreds if not thousands of international Junior players from every country with Hockey. And the tax payers are flipping the bill for all this while our own kids don't get near the benifits or opportunities. And I know Don Cherry is involved in that whole mess. I have to agree there's a huge problem there, my son is Junior age right now., not that he would be good enough anyway.
