Question for autograph collectors

Wayne Gretzky (hockey) is featured on many autograph insert cards. However, if you buy from his website you get a much nicer
autograph. Unlike Bobby Orr whose autograph is consistent whether you buy from Frozen Pond or an insert from Upper Deck.
Being that I only collect hockey, I was wondering if any other sports star gives a nicer, clearer auto from his website/company then
through insert cards from trading card companies.
