Miguel Tejeda?!

I haven't followed individual player stats as closely as I normally do. So I quickly checked today and saw that Miguel Tejeda is leading the NL with a .356 batting average! Is Tejada a good player? I think so. He did win the 2002 AL MVP award. But he is also a lifetime .288 hitter. And now, in his 13th season and 35 years of age (or is it 33? Or 37 - ah, whatever), he is batting .356?! Amazing.

P.S. Oh yeah, Tejada is also leading the NL with 20 doubles and 71 hits.

I have no stats to back up this statement, but I think that Tejeda's batting style is an almost perfect fit for that park.

Just seems that way to me.

I could be mistaken but believe Miggy was hitting about the same this time last year (was selected to be on the All-Star team) and then his average plunged afterwards.

As a side note, he hit a walk off home run in the bottom of the 11th last night.

Hmm. His HR numbers are down significnatly, but his OBP and SLG are higher than ever.

Is he off the juice yet?

The season is still early, his #'s will cool off soon enough.
  • hey, he was always a good player; perennial all star, good for him.
