OK, I know I don't do this very often, but I have to say I'm pretty happy with these grades I received from PCGS. No BBs.

All Brit stuff:

1869 1/2D MS64RB
1871 1/2D MS63RB
1873 1/2D MS63BN
1875-H 1/2D AU58BN (the only disappointment)

Very impressive results. The question always is: Were they what you expected? image

Very nice grades. I'm jealous, I want them halfpennies.

They all met or exceeded my expectations, save for one.

Cool. And eBay can still be a great place to find nice coins.
  • Man! Great results! That's a whole lot of grades as well. It must've set you back about a grand simply to get them all certified.

Nice batch of stuff Wybrit. You said they all came from eBay, did any have "L@@K" in the title?

You said they all came from eBay

Not all. Just "most." For example, the farthing came from Paul Bosco and the "Amon Carter collection."

    Congrats- love the low tides

I did not know Amon Carter collected world coins. I believe he was a prominent Spokane resident and had quite the collection of US Silver Dollars

He sure did. He had a very nice British coin collection. I bought a large number of his pieces from Bosco back in the 90's.

Most, if not all of Amon G. Carter, Jr.'s British collection was sold privately. He was the son of Amon Carter, Sr. of newspaper publishing (The Star-Telegram) fame headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas since before WWI.

His 'lightside' collection was auctioned by Stacks way back in 1984 or so, and included the absolute monster 1794 U.S. silver dollar.

Wybrit, are any other of your listed gems from Carter? I have one, an 1888 halfpenny which is a 64/65RB example.

Most of my Carter pieces are still uncertified.

The Amon Carter 1893-s Morgan is one of the finest known- off hand, I do not recall the most recent auction price but it is way up there

I'd love to see an image of that 1899 3d.

Unfortunately, my imaging capability for 3ds is short of acceptable, but here is what I have.

It's good enough for me Tom, thanks. It's a truly monster set, especially considering how tight PCGS is lately. It just blows me away to look at the grades. image
