    Rare??? My foot!

I know a guy that has several hundred of these dates and mintmarks! He has a hoard of them.
Not rare by any means, who is she kidding. I do believe I'll write her a quick note and tell her
that there are more of those little babies than she thinks.
Uh, if I were to buy a bunch of these do you think I need an import license or just an Ebay account?

    lol

Went online to report it, and it cut off my explanation as to why the coin was a counterfeit after only about a line and a half.
Guess eBay doesn't want to hear too much from us nitpickers.

The Central China mint produced a mere handful of these.

    Which "Central China Mint"?

Interesting....Nevada became US territory after the Mexican War - which ended in 1848.
  • This is a good example of why I listened to the advice I was given here and started buying books before I buy any more coins (at least raw coins off of eBay). Bid up to $167.51 with 12+ hours to go.

I think the seller is out there, but the bidiots that bid this up to $167 when I looked at it are the biggest fools.

It sure looks rare to me. This has to be the only coin I've ever seen that was minted with the obverse rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise! image
  • When I first read this thread I sent the seller a polite message about the problems pointed out here and suggested that they speak to a dealer in their area. Four days later, I had not received a response and the listing was still active. It was then removed, apparently by eBay. The seller relisted the item with the same photos and a different title. It sold for a little over $200 but the listing was removed soon after, again apparently by eBay. The same seller (tina27049) has 4 items listed today, one of which is listed as a 1923 Morgan. Given the history here I would appreciate it if someone with more knowledge than I have would take a look at the seller's current listings.

I checked it again just now and 4 items pulled up at 8:09 Eastern. I don't understand why they didn't pull up when you checked. I do appreciate you taking a look though.

They look pretty beat up. As to the 1923 Morgan..... someone doesn't own a Redbook?
  • I do, and I see the picture is not a Morgan but any thoughts on the 1884 S shown? What is going on around the stars to the left of Liberty and the area immediately under her neck?

if you hit "Quote" instead of reply... you will see the link construction syntax in the quoted material.

if you temporarily allow popups, you can do it with the "http" or "https" buttons, depending upon if the page is unsecure or secure, respectively.

It's a common Morgan in that grade; I'd hardly pay over melt-bucket for it. Looks cleaned to boot; the seller is apparently somewhat challenged in the intellect department. Also doesn't believe in photographing the reverses of her (his?) coins.
