Earliest known use - bank notes

I just received confirmation from Ron Burns that I have the earliest known use of horizontally ribbed paper used for printing the bank note stamps. It is on a Continental 3c cover dated Jan 8, 1874.

  • That is cool, love looking for EDU's (well look at my username!)
  • I thought you might enjoy this one. Ron Burns sent me a listing of EKUs that are tracked for the 3c bank note issues. There are 22 separate varieties listed. I have one and only 21 left to go.

  • Well good luck with that number. That's probably slightly more than all the EDU's I have found in the last 10 years (that have certs)
