I'm with Syracusian on that, give em hell. I had one bid in last night on the 1775 Halfpenny that was one of those, if someone else wanted it they were going to have to pay. Luckily it looks like I won it for less than 1/2 my max, guess the only other person in the world collecting them fell asleep. Or they aren't as stupid as me, hmmmm....

I made some folks bleed in the Goldberg auction. You never know what's gonna happen in this one.
So much for any correction in the British Market... I anticipate that the white flag will go up before the night is over but the last shots have not been fired just yet...

The other thing is thank goodness the British coins are being auctioned off at a respectable hour, instead of 2:00 am MDT like another auction that was recently held!
Internet bidding for tomorrow's auction just closed. The real action is yet to come. I like the new live auction interface I've seen, but I haven't hit the BID button yet, so we'll see just how happy I am with it tomorrow...
The 6/6 is for lots where I made meaty bids. I had a few other lots that I made "casual" (ie very low, 1/3 of catalogue) bids, but let them go in favor of the ones I really wanted.
I felt that there were some decent buys there that many people passed over, including a low tide 1902 halfpenny. I put in a weak bid for it since I already had a similar example -didn't get it, of course. I can't believe that 3 UNC examples came up in the space of a week when I rarely ever see a single example for sale in a year. When I won my piece on ebay a few years back, I received an email immediately from an interested collector wanting to pay me even more for it.
Did anyone here get the run of Edward VII halfpennies (1902-1910)? Some of those looked pretty nice.
I need to go through the data, but my initial reaction is that today's prices for the British material (for dates I am interested in) were pretty weak. Brits from across the pond probably restricted their buying based on that exchange rate.
I bought the Goldberg lot with the 1902 High Tide 1/2 d in 66 RB, only needed one for my type set so picked it up rather than the low tides. I really expected it to go for a lot more money (got it for $200). It also has a 1907 and 1910 Penny in 65 brown and RB, I already have both of those so I guess you'll be seeing them on ebay soon. I also picked up the 1821 Farthing in 64 brown and the 1862 1/2 d in 64 RB in Goldbergs.
Today I just bought the 1836 Shilling in 64 at what I thought that was a very good price, the Willy IV pieces are tough to find above 63.
I may regret skipping the low tide 1/2 d when I decide to build a complete set of them.
1 for 2. Lost on the 1850 1/2 sov. Who got it? Went for 2325+ which was just higher than I was willing to go since I got a nice P58 for about 1/4 that price a while ago. I did get the regular West African States 5k CFA in gold (not the specimen larger one which I already have) for I think 488 incl the juice - that coin is pretty scarce (of course as soon as I say that tons will show up!).
OK, you 1/2d bozos, who got the Goldberg 1923 ?specimen/PL? 1/2d? What was the price?
Love that Milled British (1830-1960) Well, just Love coins, period.

Did that '50 1/2 sov. sell on the floor or to an Internet bidder?

I saw that 1923 halfpenny (lot 3443) and was scared off by the "lightly cleaned" description. The price hammered below $200 and so it appears, based on the list of final prices, that the piece was withdrawn.
Stupid question: Is it just me or is the audio signal in Heritage Live just INSANELY low?
I have the volume level in the browser app maxed, my system volume maxed, and I *STILL* have to have my external volume pumped so damned high in order to actually hear it that the background hum is deafening.

I had no trouble with the audio. Signal came in loud and clear - could hear it on my computer all over the house.
The big problem I had was ignoring the audio and taking my cue from the bid amounts near the buttons. The audio was delayed just a couple of ticks. If I hadn't placed pre auction bids, I probably would have lost most of the lots I liked today.
I received a bid status from Heritage this morning even though I have no further bids pending- A very nice touch to remind me that I did not win anything-

There's a nice block of South American jewels, still on if anyone's interested, I was in for the resale and I'm out.
Greek coins broke records. A 1833 5 drs PCGS MS64 sold for $7K ,a 1832 2L PCGS MS65RB for $2300. People are hungry for good quality and some exceptional coins are going on the block, an opportunity we might not see soon again in these volumes.

I really wanted the 1923 1/2d so maybe will contact Goldberg. That is not a lot of money, but then again I did not see it in hand.

Took 4 out of 6 where I was a serious bidder. Made someone pay in a losing effort on one of those...
Also bid on a couple of other pieces I didn't really want, except they were so cheap, but other bidders woke up so I didn't win.
