A few farthing grades in...PIC ADDED

...and man are they getting tight. The two 1860's, 1822, and 1956 I agree with, but I'll have to spend a lot of time studying the others, all at least 1 point less than I had guessed, a couple of them 2 points less. And I know I shouldn't be submitting modern crap but I wanted them to go in the registry set, someone has to play the game.image

001 1860 G.BRITAIN TOOTHED BORDERS 1/4P MS 64 BN what I expected
002 1860 G.BRITAIN BEADED BORDERS 1/4P MS 64 BN what I expected
003 1901 G.BRITAIN BLACKENED AT MINT 1/4P MS 62 BN I really expected 63/64 on this one too
004 1822 G.BRITAIN 1/4P MS 65 BN This was a good one, I was thinking strong 64/shot 65
005 1896 G.BRITAIN 1/4P MS 63 RB I was thinking 64
006 1942 G.BRITAIN 1/4P MS 64 RD Thought it was a 65
007 1951 G.BRITAIN 1/4P MS 63 RB How could I be so wrong???
008 1956 G.BRITAIN 1/4P MS 65 RB What I expected

Now admittedly I had a large pile to go through before I sent these in, maybe it was eye strain by the time I got to the moderns, maybe a little to much of the medicinal Scotch, but I obviously have to think more when looking.

Well I should have added a pic, here's the 1822 Farthing.

Did you guess red on the 1951?

Yes I did, and I also guessed strong 64 /shot 65. I really screwed the pooch on that one.

PCGS seems tough on the George VI stuff. I wonder if it's because of this?

As for color, I've given up trying to guess where PCGS will land

Nice group of farthings with very respectable grades. The 1822 at MS65 is very nice. NGC has never had a 66 and PCGS has had only one, congratulations.

That 1822 1/4d is outstanding. I really like that design.

I agree lots of eye appeal on that one.

Do you think PCGS grading is getting tighter?

My recent submission, 1884 1/3 farthing was graded 62 I was thinking 63.

If you compare the obverse to the reverse you can see the obverse is high MS 60s the reverse IMO doesn't show wear but is a filled die. You can see the details on the leaves in the wreath etc.
Even accounting for a filled die I think it should of been higher then 62.
