What is the importance of the L.B. Show?

While the show is not as much a force in the coin hobby as it
was in years past, it is still a major show. As such we will be
looking for some clear signal as to the direction of the coin market.
The very best outcome would be if it is not hot or cold, but rather a
nice warm temperature. Such would allow the coin market to continue
to consolidate in the middle of a financial maelstrom. In a few days we
may know the answer. The past few months, various shows have given
rather mixed signals , it is indeed possible for this to continue for this show.

Not too cold
Sounds like something Goldilocks would say.
60 years into this hobby and I'm still working on my Lincoln set!
<< <i>It's the only major show I can drive to in under a half an hour. >>
Not from the 405 can you ever make it in less than a half hour- and you'd be lying if you said differently.
LB- needs to rethink their show- it takes place too many times during the year and at best the show is average, bordering on being boring.
Timing for collectors is not on a Wednesday or Thursday, especially if they have kids ( school should be a priority) - move the time a bit- rethink it for a Sunday - and dealers who decide NOT to stay for Sunday- do not invite them back the next year- simple as that. In the old days this show was a enjoyment to go to, and I had the opportunity to hit the boat/fishing show as well- killing 2 birds with one stone to say- now the show is boring.
Mix it up guys, same time, same place, same dealers, same stuff and all like to leave late Friday or early morning Saturday...

I'm in Eagle Rock/Glassell Park so it's just a hop, skip & jump down the 2 to the 5 to the 710 -- we rarely make it west of Fairfax anymore.

Why wait a few days? Wouldn't it be better to assess the direction of the coin market on a daily (or even hourly) basis?

Only if you are a dealer that needs to know what's happening every minute to stay in the game. Lazy Bears need their rest and can only look up from the honey pot every couple of days.

Why such a macro philosophy? Just hit reload on your browser over and over and you can watch the market trend in real-time
Good point. Maybe we can run a coin market ticker on the bottom of this page.
most part are holding up but buy prices are dropping. A number
of super rare coins have dropped dramatically. PMs are a bit schitzoid.
What we are looking for, is the sudden collapse in confidence in the coin
market. The sudden shut down of retail and wholesale business. This is
a rare accurance, but it has happened in the past and the possibility of it
happening again is real. This is what we are looking for and it will appear
at a major show if and when it happens. When you have collected coin as
many decades as I have, you get to see all of the cycles and all of the good
times as well as the bad times.

I was at setup today and from what I saw I would say that today's activity level was actually better than that of setup during the last show in February.

Just kidding, I am after a bunch of SVDB's and various key and semikey Lincolns in up to 64ish red or redbrowns......I'll see if it is easier to buy this time, the last show I was able to buy a few, 18 months ago I bought very little. Just a little collector service stuff, no real raritys, but still will have an opinion for the blue collar folks.

Please save a few for the little people.

Hopefully this weeks huge price drops for the SVDB's in the PCGS guide make it easier for you to find good deals
