Motivation for Bumps

I am not a dealer so I have no financial gain if a card bumps from an 8 to an 8.5. On the other hand, getting the bump does increase the sale value if I ever sell (or more likely, my kids decide to sell). I have complete sets from 59 to 72 (not 62), with close to 60% of the cards graded except for 70 and 72.
I am about to send off 194 grades to be reviewed under the May special, with a cost to me of about $800. That is $800 I could use to buy graded cards instead.
What do others do-do you go for the bump on cards you plan to keep? I do not need a very high success rate to come out ahead. Just curious.
