Netherlands/Belgium Armistice - A Superbly Toned Medal from the S.M. Damon Collection

Back in the Summer of 2007, I had the opportunity to sell 42 medals out of the S.M. Damon collection. Luckily, I was able to acquire one for myself, partly as a memento of the sale--these medals were going into a new collection for the first time in nearly a century--and partly because I was captivated by it, with glossy brown surfaces revealing bold color when illuminated and a crisp, high relief strike. Adding to the appeal is the original tag from the Damon collection. While the piece is out of my collecting realm, I couldn't pass it up, figuring it would eventually be a regretted missed opportunity. Today, tt's among my favorite pieces. I reshot my whole collection in December, and finally got to cropping this piece. Enjoy.

Mr. Damon had an eye from quality. I have only one piece from his collection and it's definitely one of the centerpieces in my collection, even if it wasn't in his.
