I have decided not to buy coins anymore...
The coins I tend to buy are very low-end *junk* - which is fine because I'm a bit of a hoarder (OCPD) & I can't afford to invest in mega-coins anyhow....
So, now that I have nice little piles of junk IHC's, wheaties & buffalos... some cool little errors & random other common coins - I've decided to "move-up".
I am no longer going to BUY coins for my collection - instead, I'm just going to RENT the coins that I like for my viewing pleasure (...no Blockbusters, just good quality fare).
I realized that maybe I should start taking my own advice sometime after posting to This Thread - pg 2 on Monday May 11, 2009 12:41 PM.
For some strange reason... I feel much better about this perspective (although, I'll likely end up keeping a few, it won't seem like a make-it-or-break-it /now-or-never decision).

I've always felt dealers should offer short terms leases!

It's not junk. It just hasn't found a happy home, yet.

Where does one go to rent coins?

By "RENT" I'm refering to the cost incurred to have a coin in your possession for whatever length of time that ends up being (until you sell it).
For one, you may well have overpaid in the first place just because you saw it - liked it - and "had to have it"... then, you may also be losing money by having it tied up in the price of the coin for an extended period of time... Now, if it's raw - you may then dump lots more money in it trying to get it "certified".... and then, when you sell it you are likely to incur all kinds of sellers fees, packaging, shipping, etc. & the sales price may be less than you had hoped. So, on any particular coin - the "rent" may be very high... or fairly negligible.
Whatever the "rent" is, it's the cost incurred to enjoy staring (all buggy-eyed) at your little round piece of metal in a variety of favorable lighting conditions.
(Or, like those lost/damaged Blockbuster movies - you may end up owning it without intending to!)

A familiar concept.
