Sid the Kid Card

I haven't posted an original thread in almost three days, can you believe that?! Oh well, I have a BGS 9 MINT "WOW" Sid the Kid Young Guns that I will need to sell soon and was wondering, when should I list it?

a) I could list it tomorrow, and by its ending time, the Pens will have soundly defeated the Canes and will be awaiting the Wings.

b) A week from now, when it will be the middle of the Wings series and he will be leading the Pens to victory, but not cinched it yet.

c) Two weeks from now, when he will be a Stanley Cup Champion but the "buzz" may have worn out slightly?

d) there is no option d, don't even go there

What would you do?

I think you mean to say they will be playing the Hawks for the trophy. In my opinion I think Crosby is the real deal. If I wasn’t tight on cash right now I would be looking to buy one myself. However, if you feel he is the next Eric Lindros then you should sell it while he is hot.

    I'd try B.

He plays against the Red Wings the hype will be higher. What can he do against a great team?

If he beats Detroit, the walue goes up, if he looses who knows.

Everyone says he is for real, so why sell now? It will just increase in value next year, unless he is a one year deal.

The value will continue to go up year after year. He truely is a great Captain and probably the best skater in Hockey today. No he won't break like Eric Lindros did. Sid the kid is tougher than hammers.

    I'd go with option B.

There are no guarantees it keeps going up. The hype for Crosby is already huge, everyone knows who he is, it can't just keep going up forever.

Thank you John, that's where I'm leaning. I believe the highest peak of young players card is that 1st or 2nd year realization that the kid is a great one. EX: Longoria. He could go on to have a hall-of-fame career but I would bet right now his card is at its pinnacle, and will be lucky to stay at its current level even if he goes on to have a HOF career. Case in point: 1989 Upper Deck Griffey!

I wonder how many 89 Griffeys there are compared to 05 Crosbys? Didn't card companies cut back on over producing to some extent?

Crosby will continue to do great things as he just keeps getting better IMO.

I'd say B. The hype and tv coverage will be at its peak for the finals. I may list mine as well.

Now or 2 weeks from now will not make a lot of difference.................5-10%.

Anyone selling Crosby cards would be well advised to allow international bidders. image
