Some British NEWPS from the Bellair show

Just got back with a lighter checkbook, but I'm happy enough. Now I hope I don't win everything I bid on in the auctions next week. The show seemed to be plenty busy, I saw lots of money changing hands for slabbed and raw, and a couple of bullion dealers seemed to be not as busy as the coin dealers.

First up a 1874 Vicky shilling, die 17 in MS64. My photo doesn't do it justice but really nice teal color toning along the top of the obverse and bottom of the reverse, pop 6/3.

And an 1898 B Trade Dollar in MS64, dipped bright white unfortunately but still a nice coin and plenty of luster, po 4/1.

And finally a 1909 Penny in MS65 RB, about 90% red, and just a tick on the neck keeping it from 66, pop 3/0 in RB and 5/0 in all colors.

Nice coins. On the shilling, I can't make out if you have the "crosslet" 4 or not (that is slightly rarer, I understand).

Coincidence: last week in the Denver show, I picked up an NGC MS64 1874 shilling, only it was die #66.

    That penny is superb.

Wybrit, I'm not sure what the crosslet 4 should look like. On this one the horizontal line in the four crosses through the vertical and then turns up, no serif pointing down.

    That's the regular version.

    No crosslet (like yours):

If you can't see the "4", it has a vertical bar extending both above and below the horizontal bar in the numeral.

    Nice high grade coins Jeff.

I had the good fortune of seeing these in person. The vicky shilling has nice color in person.

I'm glad I don't compete with you for British stuff.

Overall, the show was busy. I can only say that the show was well attended. I saw my favorite dealers, stimulated the economy some purchases and ejected shortly afterwards.

I really like that shilling. I can tell there is some very nice color there.
Nice to also read that the show was well attended and active.
A little show up here a few weeks ago was surprisingly brisk.
