Today, different areas of a stadium have different colored seats. I'm assuming it was the same back in the day. That's a great card you've got there - I'd be interested in picking it up if you're wanting to move it. I've got the same card, but without any paint on it.
To answer the question, I'm not sure on what part of the seat it came from, but it is definitely a neat card showing the different layers of wood and paint.
Found some pictures of older Yankee Stadium seats from a quick google search. Initially, I thought you might have a piece of the numbering on the chairs, but these images prove my guess was wrong. The third image down in particular shows some older wooden seats that weren't repaired and you can see the blue paint coming off and there is no red paint underneath it. So I'm at a loss.
