does anybody know how to do a search for closed auctions on ebay and see what items ahve been selling for?

Click ADVANCED Search.... enter description..... Click the COMPLETED Auctions (listed below) - then hit Search

Search for whatever you're lookin for like normal then there is an option on the left hand side under the "Preferences" box that says "Completed Listings". If you check that box you're good to go!

although if you dont have an account you cant search completed items.

Correct, you must be signed in to execute a search on completed auctions.
