My wife really wounded me last night.....

UtahCoinUtahCoin Posts: 5,365 ✭✭✭✭✭
My wife is use to finding me studying coins and having books, spreadsheets and coins stacked wherever I happen to be. She watched with bewilderment last year as I
photographed some 400 Capped Bust Half Dollars. She even decided that many of them were "pretty". Last night she comes in and sees me working on a bunch of Capped Bust Half Dimes. She looks for a second, then asked (seriously), "Are those 'Franklin Mint Miniatures' Half Dollars?...."

aaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrgggggggg
I used to be somebody, now I'm just a coin collector.
Recipient of the coveted "You Suck" award, April 2009 for cherrypicking a 1833 CBHD LM-5, and April 2022 for a 1835 LM-12, and again in Aug 2012 for picking off a 1952 FS-902.

Geez feel lucky. My wife is always dropping snide remarks towards me rather then my lovely precious'. Like numisdork or coin nerd.
If I say something in the woods, and my wife isn't around. Am I still wrong?

Your wife actually knows the word "numismatist" and modifies it to poke at you....wow.

Seriously, you need to start having her do the photography and research. Then you can start having intellectual conversations.

I showed my wife the Jefferson nickel with the peace pipe reverse and she said "Why did they put a golf club on it?'' image

I hope you were able to educate her about Capped Bust Half Dimes.

    Numisdork....image At least she's creative!image
  • yeah, man
a golden opportunity- if she responds to your patient, loving discourse about your "mistress", LIBERTY, you could end up with a partner in coin-stuff - rather than someone who'd rather buy new furniture than CB Halves and Half Dimes !

(maybe that would be pieces of furniture per CBHD??)

Well, the easy answer is to collect real coins instead of those mini-me lookalikes.
Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.

While at the bank, I asked the teller, who must have been pushing 30, if she had any of the new 2009 cents. She looked in her tray and held up a Memorial cent, and told me "all I have are the ones with the Capitol on the back".
