Guy pulls 51 SUPER SHORT PRINT 2009 Heritage cards in 1 blaster

http://blogbeckett.wordpress.com/2009/05/20/now-that-is-a-loaded-box/
On the outside, the blaster box of 2009 Topps Heritage that Todd Neuman bought at a Walmart in Mayfield, Ky., probably looked like every other one that rolled off the assembly line and made its way to the shelf.
But on the inside it looked quite, quite different.
As in it had 51 of the set's super-rare short-printed variations inside.
As in seven copies of Randy Winn.
As in seven Conor Jacksons.
As in seven Adrian Gonzalezes.
As in seven John Smoltzes and Hanley Ramirezes, too.
To top that, there were eight copies of the $200 Thom Glavine variation and eight copies of the Fred Lewis card featuring Winn on the front.
All told, thats a $10,300 blaster box (high book) that cost just $19.99. There were just eight packs inside, but each and every one was loaded thats an average of $1,287 a pack.
"I have been collecting for a long time, but hadn't bought any Topps Heritage this year yet. I bought the third box in the row and pulled 51 short-printed variations," Neuman said. "I was just wondering if you had heard of anyone else having this luck on these this year?"
The answer on this is easy. That's got to be the only one.

<< <i>what a freaking joke. Topps sucks >>
Would you still be saying that if it was you who opened the box...?
Any of the board members pulled one of these 2009 Heritage SP's yet?

I was just about to say, this will really irk Kevin.
Topps needs to come forth and let us know what the print run really is on these. Putting just over 7 sets in one blaster is beyond ridiculous.

beckett once again delivers the story and they are the ones that supply wal mart with the blaster boxes.....total BS
Kevin
<< <i>So that answers the question of how one guy in Kentucky ended up selling off seven complete sets of SSPs. Board member Joe was able to land one of them; they are in hand now. With one seller listing that many sets, we were both wondering if they were even real, but as it turns out, they were.

Hi Geordie!!
How're things?

<< <i>Hi Shawn!

I think it is terrible on Topps' part, but at least I know the ones I bought are real.
Now that could have been 51 cases with at least 1 SSP in it. I guess I know where mine went.
I agree if I opened that Box or a friend of mine I'd feel damn good I'm sure.
But If you really think about it... Topps sucks on this one!t
They really kicked all the Heritage collectors in the face on this one. I opened more Heritage this year than ever before.
More than I'd even care to own up to... and did not pull one of these damn cards not one and now this.
Good luck to the lucky guy it's not his falt but give me a brake
Here's the guy Joe bought from - also from Kentucky
First guy had 7 sets, 2nd guy sold a total of 5 - 2 as a lot, and the other 3 as singles. 12 sets total. Nice.
edit: oops, my bad. 2nd seller still has a set up for grabs with a $500 BIN/BO - make that 13 total sets.

EDIT: I realize this isn't necessarily true all the time, but I think I'm just in an ugly mood because the Cavs lost tonight, so I'm just gonna go to bed. Nighty-night!
of these at the topps office and none of us would know. Put a few in hobby boxes and make them look like they are super rare and then at the end hand
out favors to guys and dealers and make a ton. I wouldn't touch these super sp's with a 10 foot pole, sure I am bitter cause I didn't pull any of them but
Im more bitter cause topps though us dumb heritage collectors would forget that they put a bunch of crap autographs in the product and instead put out
super short prints of super star greats Fred Lewis and Randy Wynn.
I just might go to every wal mart I can find and line up all the heritage blasters I can find and step on them, insuring that topps is stuck with this worthless
crap.
Sincerely,
Beyond Ticked
But I picked up a couple of blasters from a Kmart about 2 or 3 weeks ago and they have just about all Managers cards 7 and 8 of the same guys!
I hit 7 Jim Leylands in one pack and the same in other pack from the same blasters.
I'd say it sure is possible on the SSP
Collector of Pittsburgh Pirates cards for a slightly less stupid reason.

The price of these will come back down to earth, but there will always be demand. Just like the Gordon cut out. I keep my eyes peeled for deals on this stuff all the time (just like the rest of you) so I'm sure the demand will remain pretty high as long as there are Heritage collectors.
The print run increased again this year. It is becoming fruitless to try to put together a chrome or refractor set through box rips.....

Every year Topps messes with the collector to boost their bottom line, or spark interest.......I bet this was on purpose, to increase sales...
Stalin I remember a few years ago i simply said to someone that had asked about modern issues that they usually go down
in value but if you like what you bought it did not matter. You then went back and forth with me regarding how this product was
Gods gift to mankind. How I did not know anything bla bla bla. I have now seen you say the very same thing I did that night
at least 4 times now.
Typical of you.
Steve

a while people just won't be buying this stuff.
The irony here is that while I though 09 was the worst set to date (at least in content), I have never traded more of it ever! If I had 40 more SP's they would
be gone tomorrow, the demand this year even just on the boards, was huge. Go figure!
Kevin
Just like when Bush and Mantle slipped through on the Jeter card......and they claimed they missed it......I just don't buy it (that it's not on purpose)........
I like the set, I just wish they would focus on the collector rather than the "big hit to make a buck" mentality...........
too much of a goof. We all know that topps had no problem selling every single hobby box, we also know that they flooded the market with
retail. Why wouldn't they hold this back at the end to push up sales of these boxes and many of us have already found out, have NOTHING in
them. How ironic that beckett, who couldn't find a news story about heritage with a map and flashlight, is the one who breaks this story AND
they are the ones who benifit from people buying retail blasters.
I just can't see how topps can do this in todays economy, of course they do sell e-cards for 5-10 bucks a piece and don't even have to produce
them, so they aren't all that dumb.
Kevin
And I think Topps did that on purpose also.........making it virually impossible to complete the set through packs alone.....you should be able to get one complete set out of a case (less the SSP). I'm not sure why Topps can't make that happen.....oh yeah....greed
