OT: Anyone have any recomendations for Photoshop tutorials?

I just got my copy of Photoshop and have opened it a few times but am to intimidated by all the fancy buttons to actually do anything with it. Does anyone have a recomendation as to a good book or website that can help me? I'm looking for something along the lines of "Dumbass Guide to Photoshop". Thanks in advance!

There are hundreds of free tutorials.

    list from goog

The factory manual has a quick start section.

Playing with the thing is the best way to learn about it.

Most of the "fancy" features, you will likely never use.
The basics are pretty starightforward and can be
grasped in less than a day.

I have a good time just selecting a picture, open the file and start playing with the buttons. I've done this with all my picture programs. Keep the manual beside you and have fun. Some of these programs have so many options you might be best to just try and get familiar with it hands on. And refer as you go or need. The simple stuff is easy, but these programs are deep.

I have a CAD program that makes me feel like a two year old, but I'm getting some of it slowly.
  • I'll just echo the idea of getting in there and playing around with it, I don't think I've ever looked at a photoshop book, of course I'm sure there are many features that I don't utilize. Nightcrawler, you'll get the CAD, it's not near as bad as it seems and the jump in and play around method works well with it also.

I'm a big fan of Scott Kelby - I think he does great photoshop books...
