PSA subnission question for auto inserts from early 90's

what do i have to do to get cards graded that are autographed and inserted by the manufacturer from the 1990's... like the Classic auto inserts or even upperdeck heros inserts... do these need to sent for psa/dna authentication before psa will grade them. most of these mention somewhere on the card that the auto is authentic.. it seems like a waste of time to have it submitted twice. i don't care about getting the auto graded.. i just want the card graded and slabbed. thanks for any info

If they are from 1997 or earlier, they will have to go through PSA/DNA for autograph authentication for the card to be graded. You do not need to get the autograph graded. I have never submitted an autographed card for grading, and I do not know what procedure to use to have the card graded and the autograph only authenticated. If no one on the thread can tell you what to do, call PSA customer service at 800-325-1121.

Alot of those UD and Classic Cards were signed and than hand numbered which could be easier to forge than today's autos which typically have some sort of congratulatory back and or stamp/hologram. The thing that bothers me is I also have to send in Topps certified stamped issues from the mid 90s which have the same protective features as today. I guess it took a little longer for UD to get on board.
