Question about Citi Field from a Phillies fan

stevekstevek Posts: 29,299 ✭✭✭✭✭
With the Phillies outstanding road record, and sooner or later the Phillies will duplicate that at home, it appears now like the Phillies could run away with the NL East. Towards the end of the season when Phillies tickets are "impossible" to get, while Citi Field will basically be abandoned by most Mets fans, my question is, and I mean this with all due respect and sincerity...and considering Citi Field is a brand new stadium and those in Philadelphia might be interested in visiting for the first time...Could there technically at some point in the season be more Phillies fans than Mets fans at Citi Field during the Phillies-Mets games there?

It is well known that Philly fans are too cheap to afford the expenses assoiciated with such a trip to Queens...though I know you attended your share of games at old Shea Steve before jumping over the other side! If the Phillies are in town on Belmont day, you can offset those exspenses with an exacta box bet at the track, LOL!!

In fact, I just got off the phone with the nice gentleman at Citi Field in charge of merchandise and he said to me that the Mets management was aware that this is going to happen and towards the end of the season they are going to have virtually no Mets merchandise at all for sale there, and it will be mostly Phillies apparel and other products that will be for sale at Citi Field. So that was good news to me in case i decide to visit Citi Field and buy some Phillies merchandise because it will be so hard to find in the Philadelphia area due to incredible demand.

I just saw an ad for two free Citi Field Mets tickets with each purchase of a pack of gum.

Lots of Philles fans go to Queens as it is. On a Phillies - Mets game nights it looks like an invasion of red caps with a white "P".

You have to give the Phillies credit. They have won as many World Series as a team that did not even exist 15 years ago.

just saw a McDonalds ad on the net for the NY area....4 box seat Mets tickets for free with each purchase of small fries...supersize it to large fries and it's 8 seats.

Order a value meal and ya get to play a position for the Mets during the game.

My son, my Dad and I went to a Braves spring training game in Disney and there were about 60% Philly fans in the stands. Most of the games I have
seen on TV look like Philly home games, maybe that explains the road record we have!

There were two guys going after the Ryan Howard home run ball in the stands last night in Cincy...they had something in common, they were both
    wearing red.....Philly red!

Phillies have always had a "cult following" around the country - now that we're champions and will continue to win championships and be a powerhouse year after year, I have to say that the Philadelphia Phillies are the most popular franchise in MLB right now and for the forseeable future.

The jealosy of other team's fans towards the Phillies is such an ugly thing to behold.

I think you will find that the Mets won in head to head competition last year also?

Now, be off with you and the foolish ideas. image

    From the700level.com -

"We're all familiar with the players, how the Mets went about improving their club this offseason, and the escalating war of words. It would be remiss if we didn't acknowledge New York winning this series 11 games to 7 in 2008. Of course, the Fightins won the only Series that really mattered, a fact they've gone to great lengths to remind their opponent."

    Hey Matt! image

The article was posted just before the first 09 Phils-Mets series. So they were referring to the Phils reminding the Mets during the off season of the team's current WFC (WFC? See Chase Utley, Phils WFC Celebration) status.

Think it has something to do with Cole's (and I paraphrase) "we all know the Mets are choke artists" comments too. image

Maybe the Mets will climb back into it when they finish reviewing the location of the bases with their players. I understand the coaches are currently checking the rule book so that they don't misinform the squad.

It's the Fifth Amendment right to do that.

That amendment doesn't apply to cu sportstalk. If you look close enough there is an asterisk stating so.

Here, I copied and pasted from Wiki:

<< <i>No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on presentment or indictment of a Grand Jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the Militia, when in actual service in time of War or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation
*Does not apply to cu sportstalk >>

I just called my attorney - he said he didn't remember that CU statement in the Fifth Amendment when he was in law school, but he said he will check it out and send me his bill for his time at $175 an hour.
