North Texas Rainy Day Roll Fun

Since the TNA was preempted for me by family obligations and it has rained all day (we need the water so no complaints until I have to mow my lawn twice next week!) I stopped by my bank branch and picked up 90.00 in quarters and 10 in pennies to go through and see what I could find. Well not much but it was still fun. Out of the quarters I picked about 30 of the better ones for my kids collections. There was one Maryland quarter that is really nice and has pretty light pink, light blue, and light orange toning on the reverse that I'll keep out. A 1974 Canadian quarter rounded out the ones that were kept out just because it is not a US coin.
The pennies were interesting as one of the ends of the rolls had a wheat cent showing so of course I was hoping for a hoard of wheaties from someone dumping a bucket of them into circulation but that was not the case. Out of the 1000 cents I pulled 5 wheaties, a 44-D, 44-S, 40-D, a 55-D and one that I think is a 52 but it is pretty worn so hard to tell. 10 of the cents were 2009 Log Cabins which I was surprised to see. Several of them have small black spotting on them. Of the memorials the earliest I found was a couple of 61's until the very last coin which was a 59-D. I also figured out what the rings you often see on coins are...it is from the rolling machine crimping down the ends of the roll....I never knew that and hadn't really thought about it but several of the rolls had the rings on the coins on the end and they fit with the end of the rolls.
For me a fun thing to do for an hour or so....I hope everyone is having a good day also!
