When you buy a coin other than face to face, do you include cost of shipping and insurance into.....

the maximum price you will pay for the coin?

Or do you set your maximum price and segregate the cost of shipping and insurance into another category that you do not factor in as your cost basis in the coin?

Absolutely. A dollar spent on shipping, insurance (and taxes if any) is no different than a dollar used to buy the coin.

Plus, if I sell the coin later on, those expenses are part of my cost basis in the coin.

It depends on the coin / value / buyer ect...

If you sell on the 'Bay, ( I ) will have insurance on any transaction over $75.00 & sometimes less.

if the seller`s shipping fees are reasonable i disregard it. the PO does not ship for free so i understand that the seller has this expense to do business. if his/her shipping charge is excessive i take this into consideration when bidding. make sense to anyone else??? image

You have to since it's part of the total cost of the coin.image
