Thoughts on Vending boxes

BBCE has some nice 80's unopened vending boxes and I was thinking about buying a run of a few years. What are everyone's thoughts on these? Condition of cards, value, star card/rookie card likelihood, etc...
In particular, they have some '80 Topps vending boxes that are shrinkwrapped. Why are they less than half the price of a wax box?

<< <i>I'll second that. Topps did not shrink wrap vending boxes in the 80's

But they should have.

But if you get a good box, they are cheap enough for the above reasons to make it a ver good deal. I just picked up a box of 81 Topps from Steve the other day that had some good cards, some with centering issues, and some with dinged corners where the box had been dropped, but for $35, it was worth the investment.
Kiss me twice.....let's party.
<< <i>I bought a couple of 83 Topps vending boxes from Steve a month or two ago and was very disappointed. The cards were not aligned uniformly in the box. Some were out of alignment towards the front of the box and some were out of alignment towards the back of the box. Probably 95% had corner dings. I'm confident they weren't tampered with. Just luck of the draw. Although the price was right ($49 each), I'm sticking with rack and then wax from now on. >>
Rack is definitely where it's at.
My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

I bought an 84 topps bb vending box a few months back from bbce and was very disappointed. Your box sounds exactly like the one I got. From what Ive seen, it is truly hit or miss with vending.
