Depends on whos standard you consider correct. There are some series that PCGS and NGC grade very differently on a consistent basis.

ANACS is also consistent in thier own grading standards that fall somewhere between PCGS and NGC.

Since ANACS is really the only one out of the top three that designates varieties that aren't in the CPG... does it matter?

That's really the only reason I send coins to them.

That one difference means more money in the sales department, regardless of the numerical grade they assign.

That's why I like ANACS too. Plus it's much cheaper for variety attribution.

I recently had an ANACS crack out upgrade by a point at PCGS but I don't think it really means anything.

They still are good from what I've seen.

I used to like ANACS a lot. ANACS lost credibility with me after JT's slash and burn of the company.

I've seen several Morgan Dollars sent to them in the last 6 months that all came back MS63. They look like all the PCGS MS64 coins I have in my collection. A couple of them should have gotten the PL designation IMHO. image

I had these feelings when it happened, too,but they seem to have survived the debacle and are "spot on" with their standards. I do like the service primarily because of their numerical grading of problem coins(topic of another thread).

I've had very good luck with ANACS. Often, you can find coins "discounted" because they're in ANACS holders and then cross them to PCGS.
Positive BST transactions with: too many names to list! 36 at last count.

The box of coins I received from them yesterday shows that they're back to using the old blue labels now. Go figure?!?!
