Do you collect variations?

I'm just wondering how many people collect variations of cards when collecting a set. If you do, do you collect just the ones recognized by the "experts"--Beckett, PSA, etc.? Or do you collect all variations that you're aware of?

Here's an example: I received a 1963 Fleer Larry Grantham with no stripe yesterday. PSA doesn't recognize it as a variation, so there's only one Larry Grantham listed in the 1963 Fleer registry. Do I keep both the striped and non-striped examples? (In the 1963 Fleer set, cards with numbers divisible by 4 were printed both with and without the bottom stripe on the back.)

I've been inconsistent: I've been keeping examples of the variations in the 1963 Topps football set, but not in the 1963 Fleer set. No good reason, I just started down different paths with the two sets.

What do y'all do?

When I was doing the 61 set I did all the variations, same with the 66 set.

For the 52 Bowman set i only did the Werle variation not the many others where the card stock was a tad different.

    So yes I try to.

Their is a great web page that lists all the variations written by OBC member George Vreckech.

For me it really depends if it is interesting. To me the reverse neg shots are cool when placed side by side.

I collect the variations I'm aware of. I don't put the work into it that some do.

I've haven't put a set together in over 30 years. I'm mostly a player collector, but even for my Ryan collection I try to pick up the different variations of a card.

So for me the answer is yes...Donato
