Midwest Sports collectors show

I live in Michigan and I see where there is going to be a Midwest Sports collectors show May 16th and 17th in Novi.
Who is running this show and does it attract dealers Nationally or just the Locals.Jim Hawkins ran some big shows in Michigan back in the 80s with prominent dealers from all over.Is this the similar type show?

  • I saw the ad for this in SCD as well. I had never heard of it but did notice it is running at the same time as Motor City Comic Con. I am in NW Ohio....think I'll save my disposable $$ for the National in Cleveland.

I live in Michigan and if it is anything like the shows they used to have in the Plymouth or was it Northville area back in the late 80s and early 90s I might go. Those things were big and had plenty of items to choose from. This is the first show at the Rock Financial Showplace I have heard of. My oldest daughter wants to go to the Comicon so we might just split and go our seperate ways, though $20 just to get into the comic book show seems steep.

Comicons are a hoot, $20 is cheap for the amount of entertainment provided.

I just got off the phone with the promoter, who said he expects about 60 tables. Hard to say for sure, but my gut feeling is that I'll end up there at some point this weekend. The auto list is fantastic (Sanders, Sims, Lindsay, etc) for anyone who's into that sort of thing.

What a waste of time this show was!! There were maybe 20 dealers and only a few of them had any cards. Most of them had autographed items for sale. Half of the tables were empty. Anyone else go??

This was probably the worst show that I've ever been too. It's was a small room filled with a ton of autographed junk that nobody wants. I still can't figure out why all the bigwigs from Legendary Auctions were there, but they where all pretty cool.

Sorry that you wasted your gas!! They are planning more shows in the future. I just don't see how!! I heard that there was going to be 60 dealers. I think they were only using 1/3 of the room that they were in!!

Wow! Worst show I have ever been to. Only only one dealer had any vintage cards. Couldn't have been more than 20 tables. Very dissappointing!!

Who cares about the cards? The big question is did you get to see Carrie Fisher there?
