PSA holder question?

Are the most recent PSA holders (new square PSA border) configured for a better fit for vintage cards than the previous version PSA holders (rounded PSA border)?
I had recently received two 1955 All-American Topps Football PSA 7s from EBAY auctions. One has the new holder and one has the older. The PSA 7 cards look the same with direct comparison, however, the card in the old style holder looks/appears smaller in size because of the holder. There is much more distance bewtween the card border and the inside (lip) edge of this holder. The difference is more than noticeable when the holders are side-by-side.
Since there are PSA set builders in this forum - I am sure that there plenty with mixed PSA holders for a possible vintage comparison.
