The Official Nuggets, Rockets, Magic, Mavericks & Hawks 08-09 NBA Title Thread

in Sports Talk
Any team other than the Lakers, Cavs and Celtics to win the NBA Championship
How about a Nuggets-Hawks NBA Finals
That would make the NBA League honchos and the Sports Media cringe.
So anyone care to guess how many replies will be posted to this thread? (Less than 10 is my prediction).

Spinach artichoke dip
Guacamole
Sausage
Wings
Burgers
Some apple something cake I got at the store
And a crud load of beer (including but not limited to Shiner, St. Arnold's, and some Screaming Dog?)
Planned attendance is 10 but I have a feeling it's going to be much more than than. Even though the NBA is rigged, all of our friends get together to cheer on the home team.
Mello stuck a dagger in the Mavericks.

<< <i>Def the biggest BS ref mistake to end an NBA game in my recent memory. >>
The defender sure didn't help himself on the play. If I'm the defender, and am trying to foul, I'm sure going to make it obvious by wrapping up the opponent or using my arms and hands to foul him. In this case, the Maverick defender had his arms up in the air, and seemed to be trying to not foul. All he ended up doing was chest-bumping the Nugget player.
I'm not saying the refs didn't make a mistake, but the defender sure could've made it a lot easier on the ref to make the call.

The angle shot from behind Wright doesn't show the complete HACK across Melo's arms. Watch the other angle. He hacked Melo, then raised his arms (I'm assuming because he didn't want to be called for a flagrant).
Youre right though. He should have given him a bear hug. But considering that there were over 60 penalties called in that game, a good strong hack across the arms should have been enough.

I did see Wright wave his hand in front of Carmelo, but wasn't able to see if there was actual contact. I have to admit though, that I wasn't watching the game, I only saw the highlights on ESPN.

Three cheers for the underdog fans!
I have not seen a Nuggets team play this well in ages, maybe even never. A very potent offense both inside and outside with graet ball movement. Hard nose defense too and an uptempo, run and gun style of play. Very fun to watch this team play.
If the Lakers win in Houston tonight, Game one of the Lakers v. Nuggets series will be Sunday. If Houston wins to even the series, game seven will be played Sunday in LA.

The Celtics are out courtesy of the Magic.
For those with a contrarian bent, the best you can hope for is a Magic v. Nuggets NBA Championship Series.
Anyone think there is even a remote chance of this happening?
The Nuggets have a bad history against the Lakers in the playoffs. However, the Lakers are inconsistent and the Nuggets have been playing very well. Game One tomorrow night in LA.
The Cavs are on a roll and the conventional wisdom says they should be the Magic. However, predictions mean nothing and only playing the games will determine who wins.
Game One is Wednesday night in Cleveland.
Kobe v. Mello.
LeBron v. Superman.
Let the conference finals begin.
