Storks giveaway update

Hello everyone-I am back early from my trip to New Mexico. Had a great time and found many rock specimens to put in my collection. I received my package from Deepsix on the day I left on vacation so only had a chance to quickly glance at it. Looks great-some fabulous pieces that I will put into my collection. There are 50 pieces in the box and I think that is a good number to mail to the next reciprecant.
The way to be chosen is to guess the number of total miles I drove on vacation. To give you a hint, I live 25 miles southeast of Rochester, New York. I drove to Arkansas and then west to Lordsburg, New Mexico. Coming home I drove to Albukirkque and then to Cleveland, Ohio and then home.
Closest to the number of miles traveled wins the box of coins. In case of a tie also guess the most miles I drove in one day. Hint(It was over 800)
Will close the contest out May 10th at midnite-that's Mothers Day and also the birthday of my daughter that just got married. I thought that that date was appropriate since Deepsix made me the winner of the box in honor of my daughters wedding.
I will be gone that weekend also to my other daughters so will announce the winner as soon as I get back. Thanks to everyone and good guessing on that mileage. Olmanjon

and 935 miles in 1 day.

If it counts for a tie-breaker, we were just up in your neck of the woods a few weeks ago as part of our 1000-mile "grand-circle-tour" of potential colleges for our older son............ we checked out Syracuse & RPI, among others...

Congrats on your rocks, your daughter's wedding, AND chosing me as your contest winner!image

Sorry I do not have any images of my rock collection. I have one room on the first floor that is about 18 x 14 that is stuffed with my tins, rocks, mason jars and over flow of my coins from the 18 x 14 room upstairs. This includes cabinets and shelves on all walls. Out in New Mexico I found a lot of quartz, green florite and dog tooth calcite. The Crater of diamonds in Arkansas was a complete bust. All in all, I enjoyed myself immensly. Came home 2 days early and my wife is not back from London and Israel yet so I spend my extra time golfing. Aah the life. Keep guessing on the milage guys. Some of you are pretty close.

4205.34 miles total and 1008 miles in one day. Thanks for the chance!

I would guess 4868 miles round trip and the maximal traveled in one day is 890 miles.

BTW, congratulations on those rocks. I live in NM and I know clearly what you talk about. One of my hobby is to collect fossils in the high deserts.

If you took Mapquest's suggested routes it'd be 4475, I'll add on 100 miles for a guess of 4575 image

For longest day, I'd have taken it between Dallas and Lordsburg, just over 800 miles and really boring west of Abilene - so my guess for that is 810.

Hope you had fun! Sounds like you blasted across country!

(maybe I should hold a giveaway on this model, I'm about to head from here to Seattle! image )

Spoon-My daughter that just got married and I drove her suv to Seattle from New York straight thru. Only stopped to eat and get gas. Just under 3000 miles in 44 hours. Are you driving or flying? Have a great trip.
Keep the guesses coming guys. Only a little over 48 hours left.

Some mighty close guesses so far.

I'll be driving, but taking my time, about 2 weeks, trying to make a vacation of it image Go see Niagara (which I haven't yet!), head through Kansas City for family, romp through Yellowstone, etc. The longest day should be about 7 hours on the road image

Is that Niagara Falls you are talking about? Seen it probably 20 times anyway. First time as a kid-last time about 5 years ago. An awesome site no matter how many times you see it. Have fun on your trip. Yellowstone is a great place to visit too.

LOL.... I took my daughter there when she was about 13... in August (OMG, was I STUPID).... I laid in the mud with my head in a tiny 2ft. patch of semi-shade for the entire day... the worst sun/heatstroke migraine of my life...... sick as a dog (the next day was only just bearable). But she found a little boy with his dad nearby & spent the day digging a huge 6ft hole in the ground (she had great fun)... we never found any diamonds - but the little boy pulled a 2+ carat brown diamond out of the buckets of dirt, mud & rocks that she helped them get ~ And one of the regular old-timers that goes every day showed us his HUGE collection that he had accumulated over the years (pretty cool). When we left we stopped at the Indian Burial Mounds and she got cool souveniers in the salted bucket of rocks, fossils & arrowheads.

    Guess: 4676
    One Day: 922

Just as an update. I pulled 20 wonderful coins from the box from 13 different ountries. They had a book value of $145. I am replacing them with 25 coins from 9 different countries(including a morgan dollar from the good USA) with a book value of $154 plus a German 2 Pfenning which Krause has way overpriced. They say $25. Cost me 25 cents.
Time is running out(10 hours left) so get those guesses in.
