Should i start worrying now?

I got an e-mail on the April 28th from PSA saying my order shipped. I live an hour from PSA so i always get my orders the next day. The thing that has me worried is that the delivery number doesn't work. So i tried to track it using the Registered Mail number. It shows up as being accepted at 1:13 PM on April 28th. I called customer service yesterday and they said just wait a few more days because the order has already been picked up by USPS. This is weird because on all my previous orders, both the Registered Mail number and the delivery confirmation works. It's been 5 days and the package hasn't moved. Has anybody else had this problem???????

don't worry. i live in irvine and it took 2 weeks for my package to arrive.
  • Just an update in case anybody else has the same problem.

I called PSA last week and the lady in customer service kept saying don't worry it will show up in a few days. Tomorrow will be 2 weeks, so i decided to give the post office in Newport Beach, CA a call. The lady at the post office said she will give World Way in LA a call because that's where all the Registered Mail is processed. I just checked the delivery comfirmation number a few minutes ago and it says:

The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper on May 11, 2009 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later.

It takes 2 weeks for the delivery comfirmation number just to show up, so I'm guessing some idiot forgot the package and it was just sitting in a corner somewhere.

I hate that you can't check the registered # given
    That's only scanned once it's delivered/signed.

It is frustrating checking the delivery confirmation # and getting
the "electronic notification blah blah blah message".

I wouldn't start worrying until it has hit 4 weeks.

Yes, you should start worrying now.

Hopefully it will turn out ok.

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • Registered mail usually takes approximately 5-10 business days however it can take up to 15. At this time, the Post Office seems to be running behind. The registered number usually does not show on the website until the package reaches its final destination Post Office. The Post Office does not allow us to put a trace on the package until the 15th business day. You should receive your package shortly.

A response I rcv'd from them. Package shipped on May 1 from CA to AZimage

Your postmaster can track it by the registered # internally on their computer. Although your scenario suggests that PSA may have screwed up somewhere. It'll turn up once the PO gets it. Take the Reg. # to your postmaster and have him/her take a look. Your carrier may have not left a pick up slip, or it may have been misplaced. It has happened here with a fill in carrier just rushing through the route, no pick up slip, it will sit in purgatory for a week +.

I'm pretty sure we don't scan them anywhere between start and finish, so the PM shouldn't be able to find it on our intranet either. The reason given for no scans is for protection of the item along the way (I think it's a bogus reason)

  • When i called last week. PSA customer service told me that USPS was having a problem scanning the delivery confirmation number with their recent PSA shipments. After calling the Newport Beach post office this morning, the confirmation number works now, so at least eases my mind a little bit. I can still get a box with old newspapers and rocks in it so I'll keep my fingers crossed haha
