I would not rate their service as excellent ; they are too huge and too impersonal to not make errors .

.......and they make mistakes........ but given time , they straighten things out .

I would say their service is very good overall

If Heritage charges $5 or $5000 that is unauthorized, I will make a "big stink" if I feel its necessary. As for complaining on the boards, some of the complaints I read here are about anything from that mornings breakfast to an excessively prominent numismatist snubbing someone.
I felt this was a subject that should be discussed openly.

Honestly, I doubt Heritage gives a hoot about what I have to say, whether or not I were to go begging to them. I had planned to make a rather large purchase at this recent auction and was clearly rejected due to unfortunate events.
There customer service IS horrible in my opinion.

Are you saying that you did not authorize Heritage to charge your card???
  • I registered my credit card with Heritage - this past week - and there wasn't any credit fee or charge.

  • I recently signed up with heritage and they state that they do 2 small charges on your credit card to check that you have credit available. After checking, they put the money back. It's not a fee, It's a check. Didn't even show up on my CC bill.

I would love to add my two cents about Heritage. I used to be a customer of theirs. I regularly purchased coins on their Internet Only Auctions. However, when the ANA money show was in Charlotte, I was lucky enough to win a door prize - sponsored by Heritage. I went to the Heritage booth to collect my prize (3rd place so it wasnt much) they told me I could not pick it up and that they would mail it instead. No problem. Unfortunately, I never received the mailing. After a few months I emailed them about this. No response. A few months later I called and talked with a very nice customer service rep. He spent about 30 minutes with me and finally came back and said that he had confirmed that they had never sent it out to me. He said they would send it that day. I never received anything and never heard anymore from them. Since it was a freebie I shouldnt really complain. But that was the end of my relationship with Heritage.

Gee Lloydmincy, i enjoy bidding on coins in the Heritage auctions but i dam sure do not want to pay more than the juice. They are going to need all the customers they can get and in this instance they are wrong. I do not care if it is 5 cents, 50 dollars or 5000 ruples. I doubt they have a big problem with collecting.

Back when Heritage was listing auctions thru ebay the feedback they recieved SUCKED. It was entertaining to read and some folks are hard to please but customer service is not there strong suit.

I had a bad expeience with Heritage, no fees but I did not win the auction and I was the high bidder.
It was an 1885 CN3 cent piece (buisness strike) ANACS "cleaned" net 60 details.

Got the message that I WAS the high bidder, no coin was received so I guess I was somehow a looser!
I have not had any interest in Heritage since than! image
  • Greg, I do like to see that from a company. Although I don't know all the details from both sides, it sounds like you are publicly trying to resolve the issue. That is far greater attention than many companies provide to clients or prospective clients.

I'm glad to see Heritage is taking steps to make right Mr. dlmtorts problem.
Now, not to seem selfish but might we also address my situation now that Heritage is posting? My PM function is on.

eCoinquest- Did you really think Heritage would address your problem?? Just because they responded to this thread you posted about your experience...

It is a lot easier to mail out a set of steak knives and a 50 dollar gift certificate than to address a real issue. Maybe a year or so down the road they will address this.

I'm glad to see that Greg is going to personally see that the steak knives go out, but I'd have been more impressed with at least a sideways acknowledgement of your situation.
  • With Heritage you are guilty untill proven innocent with it come to coin you didn't bid on that show up on an invoice

I have mostly been happy with HA but while helpful their help desk / call center was a tab bit condescending and lecturey the one time I really had a problem. Still better than PayPal
