"Official" list of Fake slabs on ebay.

notwilightnotwilight Posts: 12,864 ✭✭✭
I don't have time to search for them but if others find them wouldn't it be a good idea to have a thread that lists them all? If there are contributors out there I'll rename this the "Official Fake Slab Link Thread". This will help us all report them and any other actions that we may want to take. We could also send links to the thread to ebay. --Jerry

edit: OK, Name changed and here is the first one from another threat thanks to coinpictures:

Fake 1795 half cent

This one is actually a stolen photo. Heritage sale. thanks, Pheh

Excellent idea and I know that Mr. Miller has a list as well as others here on the
forum. I'd add my two cents when I could and when I find the fakes.
    Go for it Jerry.

Great idea, great thread. I think that before you start calling items fake you should have some proof. The first coin you posted you really dont know if its a fake, you simply think it is. I think if you are going to be posting fakes there should be some education involved. Take the coin you listed, I think you should state some reasons why you think its fake such as.
    1. Zero feedback seller, beware
    2. Item from china
    3. example, picture stolen from this listing (......)
    4. Example, Coin also available on heritige here (...)
    5. Example, Cert numbers do nat match.

I see numerous threads on here calling items fake but there is generaly no reasons given as to why. There are several things you can look for to determine a fake slab, If I can find the article for things to watch for I will post it. Or if someone else can that would be great.

    << <i>Fake 1795 half cent

I haven't confirmed that this is indeed a fake slab, it could be a stolen photo but the trend seems to be fake slabs with fake coins lately. >>
