    Some artist had their spare changed piled up and inadvertantly spilled some sealer on them, it fried and then the coins were pried apart.

    There are a million possibilities. I've used "pennies" from pocket change for all sorts of different reasons (flat head screw driver, shive, paint scraper, etc).

    By the way, all the Lincoln Cents I ever saw had Lincoln wearing a real strange coat.
