WTB: AU 58 Barber Dimes, Quarters and Halves
![MFH](https://us.v-cdn.net/6027503/uploads/userpics/117/nWIFYJF1XKMM7.jpeg)
Another collector mentioned tonight that he wanted to buy
Barber Quarters in EF. His Thread is on the US Coin Forum.
I responded saying he should start his own Thread on this Forum, The BST.
Then I thought - what the heck - I'll ask for help myself.
Because of this WTB solicitation, I have now completed my certified Dime collection,
however, I would like to upgrade my AU 55's to AU 58's.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDITED: 09/07/10:
The following Dimes are needed in AU 58 - PCGS only :
1893-S
1896-S
1897-S
1900-O
1902-O
1907-D
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDITED 02/03/10:
The following QUARTERS are upgrades I'd like in AU 58 - PCGS only :
1892-S - Type 2
1896-S
1897-S
1898-O - Just added a MS 65 - but I still want a 58 !!
1898-S
1901-S - I know - its a POP - 1 coin
1913-S
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDITED: 02/03/10:
The following HALF DOLLARS are upgrades I'd also like in AU 58 - PCGS only:
1896-O
1897-O
1897-S - No PCGS AU 58's - would consider NGC 58/62
1905-S
Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

<< <i>Surprising to see the 14-D 25c on the list! >>
I just have not found an AU 58 that I liked -
my AU 55 is a great looking coin - I'm just
trying to get everything into a 58 holder - or
better if there are no 58's available.
Edit: As there is a one post daily limit on the BST
per Thread...
Coolest: Again - no 13-D's or 14-D's in PCGS 58
have shown up that I thought were nice enough.
My 14-D was in an ANACS 58 holder but didn't cross
at PCGS - they gave it an AU 55.
I guess I could resubmit it and see if it gets an AU 58.
My 13-D is in an old holder and one of my first purchases
and its a beautifully toned coin. Maybe someday I'll just
bite the bullet and resubmit all my 55's and see how many
AU 58's I get out of them... ???

I'm using a PCGS PR63 1895 in my XF+ set of Barber dimes. Like the
1877 cent, the proof is less expensive than the circulation strike. Looks
nice in the set too!
Steve
Steve,
I submitted my raw AU 58 1895-P Dime along with
seven others a couple of years ago [ which were in
my Dansco for 15 years ] and because of the toning,
was determined by PCGS to have Artificial Toning.
Of the eight submissions, only one actually ended up
getting graded, the 1901-S in AU 53 [ a touch undergraded
IMO ] ... and to this day, I'm still scratching my head
over this submission. Other collectors have experienced
this same situation.
The sulphur content of the Dansco pages has created
deep rim toning - quite attractive and NT [ IMO ] - but
because it won't grade, I'd rather keep looking for
another MS example.
I have toyed with getting a Proof - but will keep on
looking so the set has a more uniform look.
Some time ago, I decided it wasn't worth submitting
the more common dates from the Dansco, and would
be more enjoyable to locate the missing dates in my
Certified Collection already pre-certified. [ I hate having
holes in the Dansco ].
So... the search continues for Dimes... and upgrades
for the Quarter and Half collections.
