1- Die struck JM 1/2 Kilo silver bar for $200.

Over View of the show.......

Public traffic was light...... no suprise on a Friday.... but Saturday?

Gold.......... Gold was every thing.

Gold was in VERY short supply and in HIGH demand. 1 oz. coin was going for $950 to $1050.

Saints...... Yes, they were there....but not like in the past. Mostly 61s & 62s. Even the 63s were BEATERS.
$1400 for the 61 & 62s ..... $1600-1700 for the 63s. NOT worth it in MHBAO!!

By close of biz Friday....... there was not much left. The guy with the 100+ 1/10 Maples was down to less than 10.
The gent with the 1/10th & 1/4 Eagles was sold out. By Saturday the dealers that had gold were down to very small amounts.

Silver........ There was so little ..... and it got snapped up.

1 100 oz. Engelhard on the entire floor.

1 oz rounds...... maybe 3-5 hundred on the floor at $16 each.

Silver Towne and NWTM 5's and 10's were around in small amounts. Maybe 500oz on

the entire floor. $140 for 10's was the best price..... $170 was the norm. Silver $s were trading at 13/buy 16/sell.

90% was being bought for 9 to 9.5 Xs and selling at 11Xs. For both silver $s and 90% ... supply was small.

Platinum......Palladium

All I saw was the 1 oz Palladiums at $340 each..... There was an impaired proof 1/2 oz. platinum... I did not ask.

Numismatics.... WARNING!!!

DEAD DEAD DEAD.............

Both days........You could only move it if you were giving it way, maybe, no matter how nice or popular.

One other thing..... Must have been 10-20 MIXX/UHR's ..... all NGC....All first strike.....all MS70.....

Asking price... $1550-$1600....... I did not see them moving. 2 days later, they were still there.

OK...... Thats my take on this show........ Untill next time.........

Keep on stack'n it!!

Interesting! Thanks for the report. Just out of curiosity, what form of payment do you use at a show like this?

Great post. Thanks for the info on pricing as I'll keep this in mind when I go to the Chicago show.

  • Wow, You got some great deals, Esp on that 1/2 Kilo JM bar & and Then Engelhard silver.
    Its all relative

    Cash only....... for 2 reasons....

1] I keep a very low profile. There are only a few dealers who will vouch for me.....and none were at this show.
I do not blame anyone for not taking a check from a stranger....especialy for bullion.

2] Some times it helps the seller make up his mind on an offer. image

    Excellent information.....thanks.

My local dealer was offering all silver bars at $4/oz over spot this weekend....and still can hardly keep this stuff in stock. So your 50 oz bar seems like a great deal at that price.

I'm still here in Dalton. Arrived Friday around noon and went straight to the show. Got to the show Saturday around 10am. Sunday the GF & I did a little exploring around the area AND shopping of course. Today we'll check out & head up to Chattanooga for a while before driving back down to Albany.
Deals on silver were hard to find, at least for me. Many dealers had pulled their silver back with the market drop.
One dealer had 4 - 100oz JM bars but his best price was $1550 - passed.
Cheapest 1/10oz Eagles I could find was $115 - passed

    What I did buy:

    Silver
50 - Canadian dollars at $8ea. (to diversify the stack a little.)
    6 - 1oz Engelhard bars & 2 Prospectors at $14.25ea.
    1 - 2oz Kook for $38 (OUCH)
2 - Tight, H/T OBW rolls of '57-D dimes with nicely dark toned ends at $80ea, (greysheet ask)

    Gold
    1 - 1/10 Helvetia - $100
2 - Jamestown $5 BU commems $215ea (Junk gold, LOL)
1 - Proof British Sovereign - $235 (spur of the moment purchase, but that thang was purty to me)
    1 - 1/4 Eagle - $240 ( I like the 1/4oz size for some reason.)

I sure must'a missed the 1/10 Maples at $98. Great deal there SilverBaron!

Anyway, It was a fun first trip to Dalton. Beautiful country up here.

    Regards,

    John

I'm real good at buying stuff that I know nothing about.
How bad did I get hosed on the Can. dollars. I know that they have .6oz Ag which is about $7.15 melt. Is there any premium on these or do they usually sell at a discount to melt value? Most look AU-BU, many PL. Dates, 1959 - 1965, I think.
