Help with 1970 Topps...

I wonder if anyone on the boards has advice
I picked up a large high grade lot of 1970 Topps baseball. Many of the cards appear mint but the backs seem almost stained, while other backs are bright white.
I have very little experience with 70 Topps.
Does anyone know how PSA treats the card backs that have this "dirty" appearance?

Almost stained is almost always better than stained.

image heh heh, maybe they're like the set I'm collecting, with two different colored backs???

I noticed the same thing when I was going through my set. Cards that were white were tons more likely to end up a PSA 9 than cards that had the "dirty" appearance as you describe. Seems to have been a change in paper stock to me.

I have a raw vending set where all 720 cards have the white stock. Cards are stunning.

Here's a scan I just did of the two backs:

Those dingy backs are very common on 1970's, and it doesn't seem like PSA downgrades for it. I've had many 8's and 9's with those dull backs. I agree with Bob that it's likely due to different card stocks. I love it when I flip over a new 1970 and see that it has a brightly colored back. Not only is it much better looking, it's also much easier for me to read.
